Certain Rhode Island public officials and employees, and candidates for elected office, are required to file a financial disclosure statement with the Ethics Commission. On the state level, all elected officials and candidates, most appointed officials, and employees holding certain major decision-making positions must file. On the Municipal level, all elected officials and candidates, and some appointed officials, must file.
Financial statements for calendar years 2017 through the current filing year are available online. The most recent filing year is always one year behind the current year, since each year's filing covers the prior calendar year. Financial statements for the years prior to 2017 are not available online, but are available by contacting the Ethics Commission at ethics.email@ethics.ri.gov or (401) 222-3790.
First, check to make sure your spelling is correct. If the search shows no results, that person may not be required to file a financial statement or may not have filed yet. You can check both issues by contacting the Ethics Commission at ethics.email@ethics.ri.gov or (401) 222-3790.
