PROVIDENCE, RI -- Secretary of State A. Ralph Mollis will help welcome government IT professionals from around the world to Rhode Island for the 2009 Government Management Information Sciences Conference in Newport on Aug.23-27.

The conference is a wonderful opportunity to pick up the very best ideas from all over the world," said Mollis, who will speak at the GMIS conference's opening reception.
The conference has something for everyone from IT directors to school administrators to public safety officials. More than two dozen exhibitors will showcase the latest in IT products and services.The agenda includes workshops on cybersecurity, 311 call centers and video conferencing and features keynote speakers such as Thomas Cellucci, the Department of Homeland Security's Chief Commercialization Officer.
Since taking office in 2007, Mollis has expanded the public's access to information about state and local government. Visitors to his website can find information about open meetings, lobbying, state boards and commissions, state leases and rules and regulations being proposed by state agencies.
