Woonsocket “Main Street” Event for Buy Local RI Continues the Statewide Initiative to Grow Sales and Customer Base For Locally Owned Businesses
PROVIDENCE— Lt. Gov. Elizabeth Roberts, Chair of the Small Business Advocacy Council, continues her “Main Street” walking tours of local businesses for the statewide initiative Buy Local RI, THURSDAY, July 9th at 2:00 p.m. on Cumberland Hill Rd. and North Main Street in Woonsocket.
Buy Local RI launched last year with a public awareness campaign encouraging Rhode Islanders to support locally owned, independent businesses. The “Main Street” walking tours build on existing local initiatives that highlight the opportunity and benefits of choosing to Buy Local RI. Twelve cities and towns throughout the state have hosted “Main Street” tours including Providence, Westerly, Bristol and Central Falls.
The Buy Local RI initiative has also created a working group which is developing a website dedicated to expanding the market for local businesses and products by connecting people to Rhode Island businesses. The Buy Local RI website is scheduled to launch this summer. For more information, visit the Buy Local RI page on the Lt. Governor’s website at: http://www.ltgov.ri.gov/buylocalri/
