Executive Director J. David Smith is asking RI motorists in the Westerly RI area to be extremely cautious while driving. Director Smith stated that he has received numerous reports of automobiles stranded in dangerously high water levels. Police reports some of the vehicles contained small children. Director Smith Suggests that motorists should avoid crossing flooded areas where the depth of the water is uncertain. The RIEMA Emergency Operations Center has been activated to monitor the situation throughout the afternoon.
