Lt. Governor to Support Cox Communication’s Environmentally Conscious Practices
PROVIDENCE— Lt. Gov. Elizabeth Roberts will attend and speak at the Cox Communications Cox Conserves Earth Day Event and Open House, MONDAY, April 20th at 9:00 a.m., at the Cox New England Distribution Center in Cranston.
“I applaud the Cox Conserves initiative for taking tangible and pro-active steps, company-wide, toward environmentally conscious practices.” says Roberts. “Through their comprehensive recycling programs, efforts to increase energy efficiency and initiatives to reduce vehicle fuel consumption, Cox is sending a message that green practices can be good for business.”
Cox Conserves is a corporate program of Cox Communications that promotes sustainability and practices that reduce energy consumption. Cox New England has set a challenge of reducing the company’s energy consumption by 20% by 2017.
Lt. Gov. Roberts has introduced legislation this session that would create a Solar Energy Incentive, a rebate program for companies that install solar systems for homeowners and businesses. The program is designed to create new solar jobs in Rhode Island.
