Recognizing the condition of the pavement of the Route 146 service roads at the I-295 Interchange in Lincoln that has been deteriorating at a much more rapid pace over this past winter, the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) will undertake a resurfacing project to repair the roadway.
A construction contract to grind down the existing pavement and resurface the Route 146 service roads at the I-295 Interchange from Routes 116 to 99 will be advertised for construction in May. Work should start in June. In the meantime, starting tomorrow, March 25, RIDOT Maintenance crews will resurface the worst areas of pavement.
“We understand and appreciate the concerns of the motoring public who use this stretch of roadway each and every day and we have been patching it as best we can on a regular basis,” said RIDOT Director Michael P. Lewis. “Now that spring has arrived, we can move swiftly to make the necessary repairs.”
