The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) and Sports Radio 103.7 WEEI-FM have joined forces to tackle drunk driving. The group has distributed more than 50,000 drink coasters for this weekend’s Big Game to area bars and restaurants with the message, “Designate a Sober Driver BEFORE You Go Out! You Drink & Drive You Lose!”
“We want to intercept drunk drivers before they have a chance to hit the road,” said RIDOT Director Michael P. Lewis. “We cannot afford to lose even one motorist on our state highway system.”
“This message is so important to our audience,” said Joe Harrington, Vice President/General Manager, Sports Radio 103.7 WEEI-FM. “WEEI-FM is proud to support this campaign.”
State and local police will be out for a three day increased enforcement period this weekend aimed at apprehending drunk drivers, the leading cause of fatal crashes in Rhode Island. This campaign enhances the monthly enforcement patrols targeting drunk drivers.
RIDOT and Sports Radio WEEI-FM are pleased to partner with the following bars and restaurants for this campaign:
Club 505 - Cranston; Arturo Joe’s, Charlie O’s, Poncho O’Malley’s - Narragansett; Brick Alley Pub - Newport; Blaze East Side, McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurant, McFadden’s Restaurant and Saloon, RiRa, Trinity Brew House, Union Station - Providence; Effin’s Last Resort, The Home Plate - Smithfield; Casey’s Grill & Bar, Mew’s Tavern - Wakefield; Chili’s, Dave’s Bar and Grill, Smokey Bones, TGI Friday’s - Warwick.
