Gary S. Sasse, Director of the Department of Revenue, today announced a trial plan for providing better service to Rhode Island drivers who require road tests and written driver's examinations. Effective Tuesday, September 2, 2008, all road tests and driver\'s exams will be offered at the Pawtucket and Middletown offices only.
The trial plan consolidates these important services into two central locations, allowing DMV to offer both written exams and road tests in a predictable, timely, and effective manner. Additionally, the written exam process at the DMV Pawtucket office will be automated in new exam space in September, resulting in greater capacity and faster turnaround of exam results.
Sally Strachan, Administrator for the Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) stated, "This plan will allow the Division to improve the timeliness of our customer services, while operating more efficiently."
DMV branch offices at Warren, Westerly, West Warwick, Woonsocket, and R.I. Mall Express will continue to provide services as listed at the DMV website. For locations, services and hours of operation, please visit www.dmv.ri.gov.
