RI Department of State Launches Updated RI Business Assistant Tool

Improved business wizard offers new resources through partnership with the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation

PROVIDENCE, RI – Secretary of State Gregg M. Amore and the RI Department of State Business Services Division, in partnership with the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation, today announced the launch of the updated RI Business Assistant interactive business checklist tool, which provides users with new resources and connections to valuable partners as they start their business journey.

"The RI Department of State is dedicated to supporting those who wish to start or grow a business or non-profit, and the Business Assistant is an excellent tool to help you get started," said Secretary of State Gregg M. Amore. "We appreciate the partnership of the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation to expand this tool, and I am confident this new iteration of the Business Assistant will prove even more valuable to entrepreneurs in our state."

The RI Business Assistant is an interactive wizard that creates a free, personalized business start-up checklist. Originally launched in 2012, this is the most significant overhaul of the RI Business Assistant since 2015. The updated edition has been revamped to help entrepreneurs, businesses, and non-profits of all sizes get the information they need to turn their vision into reality.

Through a partnership with the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation, the upgraded RI Business Assistant offers more support resources than ever before. The updated version integrates the features and resources of the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation's BizBuilder tool. The wizard now provides personalized information about partners that can assist users with their particular business needs, as well as customizable information about licensing, municipal requirements, and much more.

"By integrating critical resources into this updated, user-friendly tool, we're making it easier for entrepreneurs and businesses of all sizes to navigate the process of launching and growing in Rhode Island," said Secretary of Commerce Liz Tanner. "Our goal is to remove barriers and connect businesses to the supports they need to thrive in our state's vibrant economy."
