RIDOT to Begin Resurfacing Danielson Pike in Scituate

Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) will begin a resurfacing project for 4.4 miles of Danielson Pike in Scituate the week of April 13.

The $6.4 million project will repave this badly deteriorated roadway from Route 116 (West Greenville Road) to Route 102 (Chopmist Hill Road). Construction will start on the eastern end of the project, at Route 116. The project is expected to finish by the end of the year.

RIDOT will repair concrete roadway joints and perform pavement reclamation as needed. The entire length of the roadway will be paved, covering over the old concrete roadway and its expansion joints west of the Scituate Reservoir with a uniform and smooth riding surface.

Traffic disruptions are possible, with a single-lane alternating traffic used weekdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Traffic volumes on this road are low, about 7,800 vehicles per day, but motorists traveling on this road should be alert for construction zones and extra travel time.

All construction projects are subject to changes in schedule and scope depending on needs, circumstances, findings, and weather.

The paving of Danielson Pike is made possible by RhodeWorks, RIDOT's ongoing commitment to repair structurally deficient bridges and bring Rhode Island's transportation infrastructure into a state of good repair, promote economic development, and create jobs.
