Travel Advisory: New Lane Shift Scheduled for I-95 South at Exit 6A in West Greenwich

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) will shift all lanes on I-95 South at the Exit 6A (Hopkins Hill Road) interchange in West Greenwich to the left at 9 p.m. on Friday night, March 20. Currently, all lanes are shifted to the right.

The traffic pattern change allows RIDOT to continue repairs to this bridge which carries I-95 over Hopkins Hill Road. The right lane shift on I-95 North will remain in place until mid-spring, when it will be restriped into a left lane shift.

The Hopkins Hill Road Bridge is one of 12 bridges and culverts along the I-95 corridor from Warwick to West Greenwich that is part of the $10.8-million Bridge Group 5 project. RIDOT will perform preservation-level maintenance to all these structures to extend their service lives, avoiding the need for far more expensive bridge rehabilitation or replacement projects in the future. The entire 12-bridge project will be complete by the end of 2020.

All construction projects are subject to changes in schedule and scope depending on needs, circumstances, findings, and weather.

The Bridge Group 5 project was made possible by RhodeWorks, RIDOT's ongoing commitment to repair structurally deficient bridges and bring Rhode Island's transportation infrastructure into a state of good repair, promote economic development, and create jobs. Learn more at www.ridot.net/RhodeWorks.
