On December 6, 2019, the Washington County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging James Glawson with 16 counts of first-degree sexual assault and one count of possession of child pornography.
The alleged acts occurred in the towns of Exeter, Richmond, and South Kingstown on diverse dates. 12 of the 16 counts of first-degree sexual assault allege that the defendant sexually assaulted, by force or coercion, five former members of the Boy Scouts on diverse dates between January 1, 1981 and January 1, 1987. Four of the 16 counts of first-degree sexual assault allege that the defendant sexually assaulted a person he knew to be mentally disabled on diverse dates between January 1, 2018 and February 11, 2019.
The Rhode Island State Police Major Crimes Unit conducted the investigation.
The defendant is currently being held without bail at the Adult Correctional Institutions (ACI) and is scheduled to be arraigned on December 9, 2019 in Washington County Superior Court.
