PROVIDENCE, RI- After officially proclaiming tomorrow as Thanksgiving Day in Rhode Island, Governor Gina Raimondo issued the following statement wishing Rhode Islanders a happy and healthy holiday.
"Thanksgiving is a time to come together with loved ones and reflect on our blessings. This year, I'm especially grateful for Rhode Island's strong sense of community. One of the unique benefits of living in such a small state is that we still know our neighbors. We run into old classmates at the grocery store and discover that our kid's soccer coach is a former colleague. And in times of sorrow and joy, Rhode Islanders rally together.
"There's no question that we're living through a moment of deep political division in our country. Every day on the national news we're reminded of what divides us, not what brings us together. But being a Rhode Islander is a special identity that we all share.
"Today, I'm thankful for this beautiful state and the people who call it home. I'm also grateful for the brave service members and first responders who risk their lives to keep us safe.
From Andy, Ceci, Tommy and me—have a happy, healthy and safe Thanksgiving."
