PROVIDENCE – The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (DEM) is advising the public that a project to remove a downed tree and limb debris near the East Bay Bike Path at Franklin Street in Warren will take place on Monday, July 29, from 8 AM to 12 PM. Two crews from National Grid will be removing brush and tree branches that morning; DEM will remove the large logs from the felled tree shortly thereafter.
During the debris removal, the 300- to 400-foot section of the bike path where the work is being performed will be blocked off. DEM park rangers will be stationed on Franklin Street and on the bike path to direct the public around the work area. This small section of the bike path will be reopened once the work has been completed, which is expected to be around noontime.
The tree and limb debris came down during a storm last week, falling on a power line and cutting off electricity to about 8,000 customers in Warren.
