As part of roadway improvements on Route 6 in Scituate, the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) today announced a one-month closure and detour for westbound traffic, from Route 101 to Route 102, starting Sunday night, June 2. Eastbound traffic will not be affected during daytime hours and on weekends, but Route 6 East will be closed for construction within the project limits, Sunday-Thursday nights from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.
While Route 6 is closed, motorists will follow a 4.4-mile signed detour using Route 101 and Route 102. Detour information is available at www.ridot.net/detourmaps.
The $8.1 million project includes resurfacing, striping, signing, guardrail, and stormwater improvements for this section of Route 6, which carries 11,000 vehicles daily. Project completion is scheduled for Fall 2019.
The Route 6 (Route 102-Route 101) project is made possible by RhodeWorks, RIDOT's ongoing commitment to repair structurally deficient bridges and bring Rhode Island's transportation infrastructure into a state of good repair, promote economic development, and create jobs.
