PROVIDENCE, RI- Governor Gina M. Raimondo is directing U.S. and Rhode Island flags at all state agencies and buildings to be flown at half-staff from sunrise until 12:00 p.m. on Monday, May 27, in observation of Memorial Day. Flags should return to full-staff at noon.
Governor Raimondo also released the following statement today in recognition of the American heroes who have laid down their lives in the line of duty:
"Today, we set aside a day to pay our respects to all of the Americans throughout history who have given their lives to protect our nation. No matter what lines divide us, Americans from all walks of life are united in our debt to the brave men and women from Rhode Island and from all across our nation who have fallen in the line of duty.
Though we can never fully repay that debt to those brave Rhode Islanders and Americans, we owe it to them to honor their memory, today and every day. On this Memorial Day, let us renew our commitment to that cause by working to protect the health and well-being all those who have served or who continue to serve our country."
Governor Raimondo asks Rhode Islanders to lower their own flags to half-staff during this time.
