Looking to protect yourself from fraud, identity theft, and scams? Maybe you're wondering about the best way to use credit, how to shop for a used car, or maximize your security online.
The Consumer Protection Unit at the Rhode Island Attorney General's Office has information for you during National Consumer Protection Week — March 3-9, 2019 — and any time throughout the year.
"One of the top priorities of this office is to protect hard working Rhode Islanders and our most vulnerable residents from predatory interests," said Rhode Island Attorney General Peter F. Neronha. "With the rising threat of identity theft, it is more important than ever that we hold accountable those that mishandle sensitive information and violate the privacy of Rhode Islanders."
Located in our Cranston Office at 4 Howard Ave., Cranston, Rhode Island, our Consumer Protection Unit has one mission: to ensure that all Rhode Island consumers are treated fairly. Our trained staff will be posting tips and Tweets all week to help Rhode Islanders with their consumer-related issues.
To access our Consumer Protection Unit directly, e-mail consumers@riag.ri.gov or call at (401) 274-4400. Consumer Protection information is also available on our web site at www.riag.ri.gov.
