Rhode Island General Treasurer Seth Magaziner has been appointed chair of the Pension & Trust Investment Committee of the National Association of State Treasurers (NAST), a bipartisan association comprised of state treasurers and state finance officials.
"NAST provides valuable resources to state treasurers across the nation, as we work to strengthen our public pension systems and manage public debt," said Treasurer Magaziner. "I look forward to continuing my active role with NAST as we work to strengthen retirement security and state finances in Rhode Island and nationally."
NAST serves its members through educational conferences and webinars, a variety of working groups, policy advocacy and publications that provide information about developments in public finance.
Treasurer Magaziner will continue in his role as a NAST vice president. He previously served as NAST's Chair of its Financial Education and Empowerment Committee.
NAST will hold its 2019 Treasury Management Training Symposium, the organization's largest annual conference, at the Rhode Island Convention Center from May 21 - 24, 2019. The conference is expected to bring more than 500 people to Providence, RI, with estimated direct economic impact to the state of more than $600,000.
