We are pleased to announce some changes to our Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) team. Effective November 13, 2018, Bethany Caputo started as the new SNAP Administrator.
Ms. Caputo is no stranger to this Department. In fact, she is returning after a little more than a year with our Executive Office of Health and Human Services (OHHS) where she was an Interdepartmental Project Manager with a focus on Medicaid notices, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) eligibility audits, appeals and customer portal changes.
She began working for the State 18 years ago as a Social Caseworker II for the Department of Children Youth and Families (DCYF). In 2005, she became a Principal Human Services Policy and Systems Specialist for DHS's policy office with a primary focus on SNAP.
In 2011, she received her master's in business administration from Johnson and Wales University with a focus on organizational leadership. She later became a Chief Human Services Policy and System Specialist while still in the DHS policy office and oversaw policy specialists assigned to the Affordable Care Act (ACA)Information Line as well as other ACA related duties. In 2015, Ms. Caputo became the Assistant Administrator of the policy office and was responsible for the day to day operations as well as SNAP policy.
