PROVIDENCE, RI - Governor Raimondo issued the following statement today on the Trump administration's new ruling that expands the availability of short-term, low-coverage health insurance plans.
"Once again, President Trump is doing all he can to undermine the Affordable Care Act. A so-called health care plan that fails to cover people with pre-existing conditions or cover critical, life-saving services such as maternity and mental health care is nothing more than a scam.
"Expanding these plans will destabilize the individual market, making healthcare more expensive for thousands of Rhode Islanders who can least afford it. Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, Rhode Island has one of the lowest uninsured rates in the country. I will continue to stand up for access to affordable, quality healthcare for Rhode Islanders no matter what the Trump Administration does."
