PROVIDENCE, RI - Secretary of State Nellie M. Gorbea will be hosting voter information events aimed at increasing awareness and voter participation. These events will provide an opportunity for eligible Rhode Island voters to update their voter registration information, obtain a free voter ID card, and receive general information about the September 12 primaries and the November 6 general election. "As Secretary of State, I want to ensure all eligible Rhode Islanders are prepared before they vote this fall," Gorbea said. "These voter information events provide eligible voters with free photo IDs, mail ballot applications and everything they need to make their voices heard."

Registered voters interested in obtaining a Voter ID Card must present proof of identity such as: Employee ID card, credit or debit card, military ID card, student ID card, health club ID card, insurance plan ID card, public housing ID card, or a recent utility bill, bank statement, government paycheck, voter notification issued by a government agency, vehicle registration or vehicle certificate of ownership (title) issued by a government agency. Only voters who don't possess a valid photo ID for voting will be given a Voter ID card.
Please note, no eligible voter will be turned away at the polls. Voters who do not bring an acceptable photo ID to their polling place can vote using a standard Provisional Ballot. The ballot will be counted if the signature they give at their polling place matches the signature on their voter registration.

Los votantes inscritos interesados en obtener una tarjeta de identificación con foto para votar deberán presentar prueba de identidad como: una tarjeta de identificación de empleado, tarjeta de débito o crédito, tarjeta de identificación militar, tarjeta de identificación de estudiante, tarjeta de identificación de club de salud (membrecía de gimnasio), identificación de plan de seguro, tarjeta de identificación de vivienda pública, o una factura reciente de servicios públicos, un extracto bancario, cheque de pago del gobierno, notificación emitida por alguna agencia gubernamental, registración de vehículo o título de propiedad de vehículo emitido por una agencia gubernamental. Solo los votantes quienes no poseen una identificación con foto valida recibirán una tarjeta de identificación de votante.
Por favor note que ningún votante elegible será rechazado en las urnas. Los votantes quienes no lleven una identificación con foto aceptable a su lugar de votación podrán utilizar una papeleta provisional. La papeleta se contará si la firma proveída en el lugar de votación coincide con la firma en el registro del votante.
