RIDOH Recommends Closing Beach for Swimming at Lincoln Woods State Park, and Reopening Beach at Ninigret Pond in Charlestown

The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) recommends closing Lincoln Woods State Park Beach in Lincoln for swimming because of high bacteria counts. RIDOH also recommends reopening Ninigret Pond in Charlestown based on results from water samples that show bacteria levels within acceptable limits. Oakland Beach in Warwick, Camp Watmough's Beach in Glocester, and Briar Point Beach in Coventry remain closed for swimming.

RIDOH will continue to monitor beach water quality regularly to assure safe bathing throughout the summer season.

The status of a beach may change on a daily basis. The most up-to-date beach information is available through a recorded message on RIDOH's beaches telephone line (401-222-2751).
