The Statewide Grand Jury reported out a secret and sealed indictment charging Nicholas Kettle with two counts of extortion.
It is alleged that on two occasions on or about dates between January 1, 2011 and July 31, 2011 in Providence County, Nicholas Kettle did by verbal communication, maliciously threaten injury to the person or reputation of a male with the intent to compel that male do an act against his will, to wit, engage in sexual penetration.
The Rhode Island State Police conducted the investigation. The indictment was unsealed today when Kettle was arraigned before Superior Court Magistrate Patricia Harwood. Magistrate Harwood set bail at $50,000 personal recognizance and ordered the defendant to have no contact with the victim. The next court date is scheduled for May 9, 2018 for a pretrial conference.
