PROVIDENCE, RI - Governor Gina M. Raimondo today issued the following statement wishing Rhode Islanders a happy Hanukkah:
"Hanukkah reminds us that even when you think hope is lost, light will overcome darkness. I'm proud that Rhode Island is home to a vibrant Jewish community. We were founded as a state that welcomed everyone, no matter your race or your religion. That's a tradition that our Jewish community helped create, and has continued to keep alive.
"We may hold different beliefs, but we can all agree on the ideals of freedom and acceptance. In the face of so much uncertainty and division, I hope we can be beacons of love and peace for one another. After all, in Rhode Island, there's a place for everyone. I wish everyone celebrating a very happy Hanukkah."
