General Treasurer Seth Magaziner tomorrow will convene the Rhode Island Financial Empowerment Roundtable to further his commitment to economic growth and financial stability by bringing together stakeholders from government, non-profits, education, businesses, and banking.
"Too many Rhode Islanders have fallen victim to predatory financial products or found themselves at a disadvantage because of income inequality," said Treasurer Magaziner. "Bringing forward new ideas to increase financial literacy and improve economic stability will help fulfill my commitment to economic growth and financial stability for all Rhode Islanders."
Representatives from dozens of organizations are expected to attend tomorrow's roundtable, which will be held at 8:00 a.m. in the Senate Lounge at the Rhode Island State House. The roundtable will provide an opportunity for stakeholders to come together to network and share ideas.
Joining Treasurer Magaziner in speaking will be Jeff Cartee from Junior Achievement, North Kingstown High School's Richard Garland, the 2017 Financial Literacy Educator of the Year, and Jeanne Cola, Executive Director of LISC Rhode Island. An open networking session will follow the presentations.
