Daytime Closure to Commence on Wednesday, October 11
The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) is scheduled to close Snell Road, from East Main Road to Long Highway, in Little Compton weekdays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., effective Wednesday, October 11. The closure is to allow for the replacement of drainage culverts prior to resurfacing and installing new signing and striping along the .62-mile roadway. Motorists will be directed to utilize Peckham Road or William Sisson Road to detour around the work zone. A detour map is available at www.ridot.net/detourmaps.
Once the drainage work is done after approximately three weeks, RIDOT will institute a one-way alternating traffic pattern in the same corridor, weekdays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Additional closures may be required as the project progresses. Final completion is slated for Fall 2018.
The $2.2 million Snell Road Improvements project is made possible by RhodeWorks, RIDOT's ongoing commitment to repair structurally deficient bridges and bring Rhode Island's transportation infrastructure into a state of good repair, promote economic development, and create jobs.
