PROVIDENCE, RI – The Board of Elections is aware of a letter complaint filed with the United States Department of Justice regarding information required of first-time voter registrants.
The voter registration process is governed by both Rhode Island and federal law, particularly the Help America Vote Act of 2002. The Board will review and assess the concerns raised in the letter complaint and remains committed to ensuring both the integrity of the voting process and Rhode Islanders' access to the ballot.
As always, the Board welcomes public participation in its development of administrative regulations and invites both the complainant and all members of the public to provide input in the election process.
