The National Association of State Treasurers (NAST) has elected Rhode Island State Treasurer Seth Magaziner as a Vice President, during the Association's annual conference in Boston.
Treasurer Magaziner currently serves as outgoing Chair of the Association's Financial Education and Empowerment Committee and will succeed Massachusetts Treasurer Deborah Goldberg in representing the eastern region of the United States in the role of Vice President.
"State Treasurers play a vital role in promoting economic growth and financial wellbeing for our citizens. NAST plays an important role in convening state Treasurers so we can work together to implement sound financial policies and programs that benefit people in our respective states. I am pleased to continue my active role in this bipartisan organization," said Treasurer Magaziner.
NAST also announced that Vermont State Treasurer Beth Pearce will serve as 2018 President of the Association. Treasurer Pearce will succeed outgoing President Ken Miller, the State Treasurer of Oklahoma, on January 1, 2018.
Earlier this year, NAST announced that it will hold its 2019 Treasury Management Training Symposium, the organization's largest annual conference, at the Rhode Island Convention Center from May 21 - 24, 2019. The conference is expected to bring more than 500 people to Providence, RI, with estimated direct economic impact to the state of more than $600,000.

The National Association of State Treasurers seeks to provide advocacy and support that enables member states to pursue and administer sound financial policies and programs benefiting the citizens of the nation.
