The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) is asking motorists to allow extra travel time or consider alternate routes through Apponaug Village in Warwick while a new crosswalk is being installed within the Apponaug Circulator project.
The new crosswalk will be placed at Post Road, north of the Post Road Extension and Veterans Memorial Drive on Wednesday, August 23. Similar to other roundabouts that have been installed throughout the project, RIDOT has used a stamped concrete design for the crosswalks to clearly indicate to both pedestrians and drivers where to cross the new intersections. Motorists traveling north on Post Road will be detoured to Veterans Memorial Drive westbound to Greenwich Avenue to Main Avenue which connects back to Post Road. An alternate is to utilize the Post Road Extension. Please follow the signed detour as the new concrete properly sets and cures for approximately one week through Thursday, August 31. Construction is ongoing with the majority of the remaining work in the heart of the village and at Apponaug Four Corners with an expected end date this fall.
