The Statewide Grand Jury reported out an indictment charging Peter Palumbo with one count of embezzlement, one count of unlawful appropriation over $1,000, and one count of personal use of campaign funds.
It is alleged that on or about dates between January 1, 2010 and December 31, 2014, Palumbo embezzled more than $100 from the Friends of Peter Palumbo Campaign Finance Account. It is further alleged that on or about dates between May 22, 2014 and December 31, 2014, Palumbo unlawfully appropriated more than $1,000 from the same account. The State also alleges Palumbo, on or about dates between May 22, 2014 and December 31, 2014 did unlawfully use campaign funds for personal use.
The Rhode Island State Police conducted the investigation.
Notice of the indictment was sent to the defendant. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Providence County Superior Court on June 14, 2017.
