PROVIDENCE - The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (DEM) – in partnership with the Rhode Island Tree Council, the City of Providence, and National Grid – will hold a special celebration on Friday to mark the 130th anniversary of Arbor Day. As part of the event, several Rhode Island communities will receive awards as part of the National Arbor Day Foundation's Tree City and Tree Campus USA programs; urban forestry grants for nine local communities will also be announced.
