CRANSTON, R.I. – June 22, 2006 – A.T. Wall, II, director of the Rhode Island Department of Corrections has announced the appointment of Tracey Z. Poole of North Smithfield as Chief of Information and Public Relations. In this role, Ms. Poole will handle media relations for the Department as well as writing, editing, and designing internal and external publications, overseeing the website, and promoting RIDOC’s mission and programs to the wider community.
Ms. Poole comes to RIDOC from Brown University, where she served as public information coordinator for the Haffenreffer Museum of Anthropology. She has over 20 years of experience in public relations and communications, primarily in non profits and higher education. She spent several years as a freelance writer/editor and is the former writer/editor at Bryant College in Smithfield and director of communications at Andover Newton Theological School in Newton Centre, Mass.
Ms. Poole is a magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Brown University, where she received her B.A. in 1985. She also holds a Master of Arts from Andover Newton Theological School in Newton Centre, Mass. She currently resides in Slatersville and has served as secretary of the North Smithfield Public Library and the North Smithfield PTO.
