The Statewide Grand Jury reported out an indictment charging Scott Gavitt with one count of driving under the influence death resulting, one count of driving to endanger death resulting, two counts of driving under the influence resulting in serious bodily injury, and two counts of driving to endanger resulting in serious bodily injury.
It is alleged that on or about February 25, 2016, Gavitt operated a motor vehicle while under the influence resulting in the death of Heidi Malstrom and the injury of two other passengers. The alleged incident took place in Exeter.
The Rhode Island State Police conducted the investigation. Gavitt is scheduled to be arraigned in Washington County Superior Court on July 25, 2016.
