The Providence County Grand Jury reported out an indictment charging Sergio Resto with one count of first degree child molestation, six counts of second degree child molestation, two counts of first degree sexual assault, three counts of second degree sexual assault, six counts of assault with the intent to commit sexual assault, and one count of assault with a dangerous weapon. Additionally, in a secret indictment, Raquel Delgado was charged with two counts of first degree sexual assault, three counts of second degree sexual assault, one count of assault with intent to commit sexual assault, two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, and two counts of simple assault.
It is alleged that on multiple occasions on or about dates between 2004 and May 15, 2015, Resto sexually and physically assaulted three children who were known to him. It is further alleged that Raquel Delgado provided Resto with access to his victims after being informed by the Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth & Families that he was not to have access to those individuals. Additionally, it is alleged that Delgado physically assaulted two of the victims.
The alleged assaults took place in Cranston and the Cranston Police conducted the investigation. Resto is being held without bail and is scheduled to be arraigned in Providence County Superior Court on February 3, 2016. A warrant was issued for Delgado and she was arrested on January 15, 2016. She was arraigned on January 19, 2016 and is being held without bail. She is scheduled for a bail hearing on February 9, 2016.
