K1-2015-0738B
The Statewide Grand Jury reported out a sealed indictment charging Robert Perry with one count of kidnapping a minor, four counts of first degree sexual assault, one count of second degree sexual assault, one count of conspiracy to commit first degree sexual assault, and one count of conspiracy of enticement of a child. The Grand Jury also indicted Lloyd Baker, charging him with one count of first degree sexual assault, one count of conspiracy to commit first degree sexual assault, and one count of conspiracy of enticement of a child.
It is alleged that on or about August 21, 2014, Perry enticed a 14-year-old girl into his motor vehicle and drove her to a motel in Johnston where he sexually assaulted her multiple times. It is further alleged that co-conspirator Baker also sexually assaulted the young girl at a residence in West Warwick. Later, the two defendants dropped the victim off at the bus station in Providence. The young girl was found in New York City two weeks after her disappearance.
The Rhode Island State Police Major Crimes Unit, the Coventry Police and the West Warwick Police conducted the investigation. The indictment was reported to the Court on November 4, 2015 and sealed. Warrants were requested for both defendants.
Perry and Baker were arrested by the Rhode Island State Police on November 9, 2015 and arraigned in Kent County Superior Court. Perry and Baker both pleaded not guilty and were ordered held without bail. The Court set November 16, 2015 for determination of attorney and November 30, 2015 for a pre–trial conference.
