The Statewide Grand Jury reported out an indictment charging Brett Mistofsky with one count of possession of marijuana over five kilograms, two counts of marijuana with intent to deliver, one count of possession of a firearm while in possession of marijuana, two counts of conspiracy to violate the controlled substances act, and one count of possession of a controlled substance.
Additionally, codefendants Tonya Bess and Thomas Mellor were each charged with one count of conspiracy to violate the controlled substances act and one count of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.
It is alleged that Listofsky, Bess, and Mellor operated an illegal marijuana manufacture and distribution network throughout Rhode Island. On October 2, 2014, the Rhode Island State Police High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force (HIDTA) executed search warrants at multiple locations in Narragansett and Warwick.
In total, the search warrants resulted in the seizure of approximately 45 lbs of marijuana, 49 marijuana plants, 2.5 lbs of hash oil, 23 vials of steroids and $29,298 United States currency.
All three defendants are scheduled to be arraigned in Kent County Superior Court on September 18, 2015.
