First meeting to take place Thursday, July 30, at 4:00PM
Secretary of State Nellie M. Gorbea has convened a Voting Equipment Task Force that will help inform the Department of State's process for researching and acquiring new voting equipment. The existing voting equipment has been in use since 1997.
"Having modern and reliable voting equipment is essential to ensuring fair, fast and accurate elections. This equipment is a fundamental part of the democratic process," Secretary Gorbea said. "To ensure that Rhode Islanders have the best, most cost-effective equipment it is important that we involve a diverse group of stakeholders in this process."
The first meeting of the Voting Equipment Task Force is scheduled for Thursday, July 30, 2015, at 4:00PM at the Center for Southeast Asians, 270 Elmwood Avenue, Providence. The meeting agenda is available via the Department of State's Open Meeting portal: sos.ri.gov/openmeetings.
