Governor Gina M. Raimondo and members of the Congressional delegation will join the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) and Amtrak next week to kick off a high-speed rail project that will have long-term benefits for transit in Rhode Island and throughout the Northeast Corridor.

WHERE: Kingston Station, 1 Railroad Avenue, West Kingston
WHAT: RIDOT and Amtrak are partnering to build an additional section of track and new platforms at Kingston Station to aid high-speed and regional rail operations. The work is supported by a federal grant awarded to Rhode Island in 2011. Speakers will include Governor Raimondo, Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse, Congressmen James Langevin and David Cicilline, RIDOT Director Peter Alviti Jr. and Paul O'Mara, Superintendent of NE Corridor Operations, Amtrak.
