April 6th event highlights National Financial Literacy Month
PROVIDENCE, RI – General Treasurer Seth Magaziner, Johnston Mayor Joseph Polisena, the R.I. Congressional delegation and Attorney General Peter F. Kilmartin, in partnership with AARP Rhode Island and the Senior Agenda Coalition of Rhode Island, will host a financial empowerment workshop for seniors as part of a month-long series of events marking Financial Literacy Month.
The workshop, entitled "Financial Empowerment for Seniors," is free and open to the public. Topics will include awareness of financial scams, how to avoid identity theft, planning for unexpected events, power of attorney and wills. A light breakfast will be served.
April is Financial Literacy Month, a national public awareness effort to help consumers establish and maintain healthy financial habits, take charge of their personal financial well-being and make smart financial decisions.
