The Providence County Grand Jury reported out a secret indictment charging Aaron Andrade with one count of murder, one count of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver and one count of delivery of a controlled substance.
It is alleged that on or about February 17, 2014, Andrade sold an illicit product containing nearly pure fentanyl to Kristen Coutu (age 29), of Cranston, causing her death. Coutu was found unresponsive in her motor vehicle on the evening of February 17, 2014 in the area of Farmington Avenue and Hubbard Street in Cranston. The medical examiner determined the cause of death to be fentanyl intoxication.
Information led Cranston Police Sergeant Kevin Antonucci, who is assigned to the Drug Enforcement Administration Providence Resident Office Task Force, to develop Aaron Andrade as the individual who sold Couto the fentanyl. The Drug Enforcement Administration and the Cranston Police conducted the investigation. Andrade is being held without bail as a probation violator. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Providence County Superior Court on February 16, 2015.
