With the health and protection of Rhode Island citizens in mind, Attorney General Peter F. Kilmartin today praised CVS Health for its decision to stop selling tobacco products at it stores. CVS announced in March its decision to stop selling tobacco products with today marking the first day its stores have gone tobacco free.
"CVS has demonstrated great corporate leadership by eliminating tobacco products from its retail stores. The healthcare costs associated with smoking are well documented. The decision by CVS is an important step in reducing the personal and financial harm caused by tobacco and puts the long term health and welfare of its customers ahead of short term profits from tobacco," said Attorney General Kilmartin.
