Governor Chafee Signs an Act Relating to Criminal Procedures and an Act Relating to Health and Safety

Governor Lincoln D. Chafee today referred to the 2014 legislative session as the most productive during his tenure. He noted he expects there will be a minimum number of vetoes.

Governor Chafee said, "It was a year where my major priorities were successfully addressed. The two top ones included ensuring that members of the General Assembly made the right decision regarding the payment of the 38 Studios moral obligation bond, and the development of a viable funding plan that allowed for the elimination of the toll on the Sakonnet River Bridge. The General Assembly also passed several other key initiatives such as lowering the corporate tax through combined reporting; continuing our investment in education; passing my landmark energy bill; and forwarding my four bond issues to the voters.

"No session is ever perfect, and no one will ever be 100 percent satisfied. It is important that I recognize this year's positive work by the General Assembly."

Governor Chafee has signed the following bills into law:

Senate Bill No. 2639 as amended (Attorney General) BY Jabour, Lombardi, Lombardo
