The Portsmouth Town Council violated the OMA when its agenda item for its October 29, 2013 meeting failed to inform the public of the nature of the business to be discussed. See R.I. Gen. Laws § 42-46-6(b). The agenda item in question stated "Request Additional Funding for the Mothballing of the Elmhurst Chapel." Despite the "mothballing" agenda, the Town Council voted in favor of developing a phasing plan and cost options for the demolition of the Chapel. Thus, the Portsmouth Town Council violated the OMA. VIOLATION FOUND.
