The Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency is alerting all Rhode Islanders that the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued the following weather advisories and storm warning:
- Winter Weather Advisory for Newport County from Wednesday 12AM to 12PM. - Wind Advisory for Bristol, Kent, Newport, Providence and Washington Counties from Wednesday 6AM to 8PM. - Strom Warning for Rhode Island Sound and Block Island Sound from Wednesday 5AM to 2PM
WINDS: North - Northeast winds at 20 to 30 MPH with gusts between 45 and 55 MPH. Strongest winds from Wednesday mid-morning into Wednesday evening. Possible impacts include power outages and downed trees.
SEAS: North- Northeast winds 25 to 35 kt., with gust up to 55 kt., and Seas 5 to 8 ft. Mariners are urged to return to port and implement necessary preparedness actions.
SNOW: Develops between 10PM tonight and 2AM Wednesday. Heaviest snow will fall between 2AM and 10AM Wednesday. Accumulations from 2 to 5 inches possible in Southeast Rhode Island and Newport. Lower accumulations inland from 1 to 3 inches.
IMPACTS: Accumulation may make driving difficult late tonight and Wednesday morning. Windy conditions may result in blowing and drifting snow along with poor visibility. Wednesday morning rush hour may be impacted.
