The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) is urging motorists to drive with caution tonight and into tomorrow morning. Snow melt today combined with freezing rain tonight and limited salt application may result in slippery road conditions. Black ice is highly likely.
With pavement temperatures near freezing tonight, RIDOT crews will be out overnight to monitor roadway conditions. Given the limited amount of salt available, however, motorists should drive with reduced speeds, especially on untreated surfaces, and allow extra time for travel.
