The Rhode Island Science & Technology Advisory Council (STAC) has grant funding available through the Innovate Rhode Island Small Business Fund (IRISBF), a new program launched in 2013 to assist eligible RI small businesses within the life sciences and engineering sectors win SBIR/STTR awards and hire interns.
Companies that have received a federal Phase I Small Business Innovation Research or Small Business Technology Transfer (SBIR/STTR) grant from January 1, 2013 to January 31, 2014 may apply for a matching grant of up to $45,000. Applications are due February 21, 2014. If the amount of funding requested exceeds the amount of funding available a drawing will be conducted to select recipients.
STAC also has available grants of up to $3,000 to reimburse bioscience and engineering companies for internship stipends. Applications for these grants are accepted on a rolling basis.
