Weather Advisory

The Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency is alerting all Rhode Islanders that there is Winter Storm Watch in place for Kent & Washington and a Winter Storm Warning for Providence County from Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning. Temperatures will be rising from lower to mid 30's.

FORECAST

TIMING: Snow beginning Saturday afternoon, becoming steadier and heavier Saturday night into Sunday morning; tapering off Sunday afternoon. A possibility of the snow changing to sleet and freezing rain late Saturday night into Sunday morning.

WINDS: Northeast winds from 15 to 25 mph with gust up to 35 mph. Possibility of some power outages. Stronger gust 40 – 50 mph near Block Island.

TIDES / COASTAL FLOODING: Possibility of a 2 feet surge with storm tides about 1 foot below flood stage for most locations. Large wave action just offshore in the order of 10 to 15 feet may be enough for some minor splash over, which may cause minor coastal flooding.

TRAVEL: Expect hazardous travel conditions late Saturday night. There will be periods of blowing and drifting snow, affecting visibility from one quarter mile or less.
