Attorney General Peter F. Kilmartin announced that Luis "Didi" Gonzalez (DOB: 9/11/95) was arraigned today in Providence County District Court for his role in the June 15th Hartford Park shooting that left 12 year old Aynis Vargas dead and injured three other women.
Gonzalez, who was a juvenile at the time of the shooting, was waived out of Family Court to be tried as an adult.
He was arraigned this morning on one count of murder, two counts of conspiracy, three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and four counts of discharging a firearm while committing a crime of violence, and ordered held without bail. The next step in the case is for the Office of Attorney General to present the evidence to a grand jury for an indictment against Luis "Didi" Gonzalez.
As previously reported, on September 26th, the Providence County Grand Jury reported out an indictment charging Branden "Blaze" Castro, Luis "Fat Boy" Gonzales, Angel "Yung Cyph" Valerio, and Ricardo Vasquez with one count of murder, two counts of conspiracy, three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, and four counts of discharging a firearm while committing a crime of violence.
The following day, September 27th, Ricardo Vasquez, age 21, pleaded guilty before Superior Court Justice Robert D. Krause for his role in the shooting and was sentenced to life in prison.
All five are alleged to be members of the Harriet Street, or H-Block, gang.
