WHAT: Secretary of State A. Ralph Mollis will honor high school students from all over Rhode Island with 2013 Civic Leadership Awards at a State House ceremony this Friday. The awards are given annually to members of the senior class who make outstanding contributions to their schools and their hometowns.
Dozens of recipients and hundreds of family and friends are expected to be on hand.
Mollis invited prominent community leaders Nick, Ron and Pete Cardi of Cardi's Furniture to be guest speakers. Well known for their support for charitable causes, "NIROPE" will encourage the award winners to continue their commitment to civic leadership after graduation.
More than 70 schools ranging from Barrington High to Woonsocket High nominated members of the Class of 2013 who best met the ideals of the award: public service, leadership ability and academic achievement.
