RIDOT names Rosamaria Amoros new Chief Public Affairs Officer

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) today announced that it has hired Rosamaria Amoros to lead its Office of Communications, effective April 22, 2013. Most recently the Director of Strategic Marketing and Communications with Save The Bay, Amoros has more than 15 years of experience working in the private, public and non-profit sectors.

"Transportation can be a complicated subject to discuss, but it's a topic that is vital to the State's long-term economic health," RIDOT Director Michael P. Lewis said. "Rose brings a wealth of skills that will help the Department deliver its message to everyone that travels our roadways."

Amoros served as chief spokesperson for Save The Bay and led a campaign late last year to pass $40 million in bonds for clean water upgrades and open space preservation. She also has served in roles with Governor's Office and the Department of Health, and is a member of the Governor's Commission on Prejudice and Bias, the Providence After-School Alliance, and the Providence Human Relations Commission.

A Providence resident, Amoros earned a bachelor's degree in organizational communications from Providence College and a Master of Business Administration from Salve Regina University in Newport.
